Keeping it Real

You’ve Got Talent – YouVersion Bible Plan

Happy New Year, friends!

First off, a big, big thank you for your support and encouragement in the last year. Your emails and the comments you’ve shared have bolstered me on days where I felt like my words didn’t matter. Thank you for showing me that they do – only because they are words God put on my heart so they could warm yours.

For my first post for 2021, I’m excited to announce my new Bible Plan on YouVersion, You’ve Got Talent.

Yeah, the title is a bit of a spin-off from the show ‘America’s Got Talent,’ but the devotional, you’ll be relieved to know, has nothing to do with one’s skills (or lack thereof) as a contortionist, ventriloquist, vocalist or dancer.

In fact, despite what it sounds like, the Bible Plan has very little to do with our talents in the traditional sense of the word.

It’s a devotional that simply encourages you and me to run the race marked out for us. Not the rat race. Not the race that someone else is running. Not the race that someone else tells us we’re supposed to run. But the race that God has chalked out for us with the resources He has given us with our eyes looking up to Him.

We’ll look at the familiar-to-many Bible story of ‘The Parable of the Loaned Money’ or ‘The Parable of the Talents’ (Matthew chapter 25) of the master distributing money to his three servants. But let’s use a different lens to view this passage and ask ourselves if the narrative is really about the servants’ performance – or does the message run deeper?

In this Bible Plan, we’ll see that when God gives us talents and resources, He doesn’t look for results or for an ROI – but for a deeper relationship with His children.

In that relationship, we discover that God is our Greatest Treasure.

This new year, I’d love for you to join me in my five-day Bible Plan ‘You’ve Got Talent’ on YouVersion.

Let’s start the New Year in God’s Word with our eyes fixed on Him. He’s blessed us with incredible talents and resources. Is it time to bring what we have as an offering to Him?
