Keeping it Real

The Sound Of Stillness—A Silent Saturday Reflection

The Sound Of Stillness

Saturday interjects a pause;

Friday laments suffering

Anguish and death,

Sunday proclaims wonder

Joy and life,

Saturday stands still, but He still speaks—

Even in the silence.

Saturday holds space for grief;

It doesn’t hasten us to “move on.”’

It gives us permission

To mourn,

To doubt,

To weep—

Even as we wrestle.

Saturday reminds us of the truth;

The God of the Sabbath

Directs our hearts

 To be still,

To know,

 To trust—

Even when we don’t see.

Saturday speaks of the waiting,

Between He was here

And He will come again.

It breathes quiet hope,

It steadies our gaze

As we look heavenward—

Even in the “not yet.”

Let the God who stayed silent,

Sit with you in your weeping,

Hold you in your wrestling,

Strengthen you in your waiting,

Enfold you in your wandering,

And speak to you in your wondering—

Even in the stillness of Saturday.

    This message is beautiful. I shared it with two grieving friends, one who recently lost her husband to cancer, and one whose husband is in the end stage of Parkinsons disease. I’m asking God to speak to their hearts this morning.

    I always enjoy reading your posts, but sometimes i have to reach out and tell you how they affect me in a special way and move me to respond. Thank you.

    Happy Resurrection Day to you and your family!
